Ohayo, Magibon!

Japanese girls are getting ready for the Valentine.
That is, they are supposed to give some gifts to the boys they care.
They also have to give some chocolate to those they DON'T care
as a matter of courtesy.
How do you guys spend Valentine there?

Actually, "take breakfast" sounds a little strange.

It's OK to say "take breakfast," but in the US we usually say
"eat breakfast" or "have breakfast." I think "take breakfast"
might be more popular in England. Though it is uncommon in
the US, it is still correct and will be understood.

We normally don't say "a breakfast" unless we talk about how to
make the meal or something. When you eat it, it's just "breakfast."
It would be a little strange to say "so far" when you are talking about
this. It is better to say "yet." But, leaving it out will sound fine, too.

"Did you eat breakfast?" "Did you have breakfast yet today?" "Have
you had any breakfast?" There are many ways to say it, and >>962
wasn't incorrect, though not completely natural.

Americans are usually surprised to hear that girls give gifts on Valentine's
Day, and that they even give GIRICHOKO.
Here in the States, men give flowers, chocolate, or stuffed animals to
their girlfriends or wives, and take them out to dinner. Sometimes it's
expensive jewelry and maybe a hotel room. ^_~
Also, children have parties at school. They give little cards to their
friends and eat cupcakes. ^_^ ^_^

Thank you for calling me by the number, LOL
(I'm not upset. I'm glad, really!)

I think there should be at least a day that girls take initiative.
So I like Japanese way of Valentine's Day better. Kids eating cupcakes
is cute though.

eat breakfastとhave breakfastはアメリカ英語
アメリカでは両者を混同して使うことはないが、意味は通じる

I also think it's better to have a day where girls take the initiative. But, I
guess Valentine's is a day for men to give monetary gifts and get something
physical in return, when I think about it. Also, remember that Christmas is
not romantic in the States, so Valentine's Day is our only romantic holiday.
Plus, I guess it's more traditional for men to buy women the gifts since not
long ago the men worked and brought home those things to their housewives
who didn't have their own money. That's just a guess though.
Thanks for the link, by the way.
^_~
>>990
I have heard of it from a couple different places. By the way, do girls
say "Here is your GIRICHOKO," or do they not say that word to guys?

Some girls do, to cover their embarrassment or to avoid being misunderstood.
When you get a small piece of chocolate, it usually tells by itself.
So you immediately know that the girl who gave it to you doesn't really
care about you. But it's always better than nothing, of course.

If you could post a Valentine video, it will make your fans really happy!
